Dead Rails Wiki

The ultimate survival guide for RCM Games' western zombie train adventure on Roblox. Codes, tier lists, controls, classes, items, map, and strategies — all in one place.

About Dead Rails

Dead Rails is a cooperative survival horror game on Roblox developed by RCM Games. Set in 1899 during a zombie plague across the American continent, you and your team board a train, scavenge desert towns for resources, defend against undead hordes, and push toward Mexico where a cure awaits.

Your primary goal is to travel 80 km (80,000 meters), lower the bridge at the final outpost, survive a 4-minute countdown, and escape. Success depends on coal management, train fortification through welding, smart looting, class synergy, and coordinated team play.

Dead Rails receives bi-weekly updates that add new Classes, weapons, enemies, locations, and game modes. This wiki is maintained to reflect the current meta and help both new and veteran players.

Codes

Dead Rails code searches are extremely popular, but the game currently has no working promo codes. Here is the honest, up-to-date status.

Current Code Status

As of June 2026, RCM Games has not implemented a code redemption system in Dead Rails. There are no active codes, no expired codes, and no in-game redeem button.

Many third-party sites list fake codes such as STEAMENGINE2026 or RAILWAYREBORN. These are not verified by the developers and cannot be redeemed.

How to Redeem Codes (When Available)

  • Launch Dead Rails on Roblox and enter the lobby.
  • Look for a Codes or Redeem button in the main menu or lobby UI.
  • Enter the code exactly as published — codes are usually case-sensitive.
  • Click Redeem to claim rewards such as Bonds, Gold, or consumables.

Where to Find Real Codes

  • Official Discord: discord.gg/DeadRails — primary source for announcements and future code drops.
  • RCM Games Roblox Group: Follow the developer group for update notifications.
  • This Wiki: We update this section immediately when a redemption system goes live.
Why do other websites show Dead Rails codes?

Many gaming sites auto-generate code articles for SEO traffic. Since Dead Rails has no redemption feature yet, those codes are fabricated or copied from other games.

Will Dead Rails ever get codes?

RCM Games has hinted at a future code system. When it launches, expect codes around holidays, milestones, and update celebrations via Discord.

Controls

Dead Rails does not support in-game key rebinding. Below are the default PC and mobile controls, plus Roblox settings you can adjust.

PC Controls

KeyAction
W / A / S / DMove forward / left / backward / right
MouseLook around / aim
Left Click (M1)Grab, drag items / fire weapon
EInteract with objects and NPCs
FOpen sack / inventory bag
ZWeld item to train (while dragging) / unweld
1 – 4Hotbar slots
SpaceJump
ShiftSprint (if applicable)

Mobile Controls

Mobile uses virtual joystick for movement, tap to interact, and on-screen buttons for inventory and welding. Layout mirrors PC actions but with touch targets.

Can You Change Controls?

There is currently no way to remap Dead Rails controls inside the game. You can adjust Roblox client settings such as camera sensitivity, graphics quality, and max frame rate through the Roblox menu (Esc) for a smoother experience.

Trello & Discord

Players frequently search for a Dead Rails Trello board. There is no official Trello from RCM Games — only community-maintained boards exist.

Unofficial Trello Board

The most referenced community Trello is organized in columns for Weapons, Entities, Items, Buildings, Classes, and Updates. Cards contain stats, images, and brief descriptions.

Note: This board is not maintained by RCM Games and may contain outdated information after bi-weekly patches.

Official Discord

The official Dead Rails Discord (discord.gg/DeadRails) is the best source for patch notes, events, bug reports, and future code announcements. Moderators confirm update schedules and meta changes.

Why Use This Wiki Instead?

  • Structured, searchable guide covering all major systems in one page.
  • Updated tier lists and class recommendations with patch context.
  • Available in 17 languages for the global Roblox community.
  • No fake codes or misleading script downloads.

Classes are purchased with Bonds at the Tailor shop in the lobby. Each class provides starting gear and unique abilities. Total cost to unlock all purchasable classes is approximately 1,545 Bonds.

Recommended Unlock Order

  • 1. Doctor (15 Bonds): Best value — healing, revives, starter medical items.
  • 2. Miner (15 Bonds): Starts with coal; teaches resource management.
  • 3. Arsonist (20 Bonds): Molotov crowd control for early waves.
  • 4. Cowboy (50 Bonds): Horse mobility and combat for solo players.

Items & Weapons

Items are found in buildings, bought at General Stores in forts, or granted by Classes. Prioritize combat survival first, then fuel and medical supplies.

Loot Priority

  • 1. Weapons & Ammo: Essential for clearing buildings and defending the train.
  • 2. Coal: Keeps the train moving — running out stops progress.
  • 3. Medical: Bandages, Snake Oil for healing between fights.
  • 4. Money Bags: Cash for General Store purchases at forts.

Map & Locations

The Dead Rails map spans a zombie-infested desert railroad from the lobby to an 80 km final outpost near Mexico. Towns and forts appear along the tracks.

Route Overview

Lobby (Tailor, shop, team up) → Desert wilderness → Scattered buildings every few km → Fort checkpoints (~every 10 km) → Sterling Town → Tesla Lab → Final outpost at 80 km → Lower bridge → 4-minute survival countdown.

Building Types

LocationWhat to Find
General Store (Fort)Buy coal, ammo, weapons, medical
BankHigh cash — kill teller, find vault code, solve knob puzzle
Church / School / HousesMixed loot, variable zombie spawns
Tesla LabLightning Rod, Electrocutioner, electric enemies
Sterling TownNightmare Mode access, mining, new zombie types
Final OutpostBridge mechanism, boss waves, escape sequence

Fort Checkpoints

Forts are safe-ish hubs where the train stops. Use them to sell loot, restock coal and ammo, and prepare barricades before the next leg. Do not hoard cash — spending on coal and ammo increases survival more than saving money.

Beginner Guide

New to Dead Rails? This guide covers the core gameplay loop from your first run to a successful escape.

Core Objective

Travel 80 km by train, manage coal, loot towns for supplies, weld defensive items to your train, and survive zombie waves — especially at night. At the final outpost, defeat bandits, activate the bridge, and survive the 4-minute countdown.

First Run Checklist

  • Check coal level before departing each stop.
  • Weld barricades and useful items to the train with Z while dragging.
  • Clear or lure zombies before looting buildings.
  • Call out low coal, breaches, and loot finds to teammates.
  • Buy coal and ammo at every fort — do not skip restocking.

4-Player Role Setup

RoleClass SuggestionResponsibility
CombatCowboy / VampireClear buildings, kill zombies
SupportDoctorHeal and revive teammates
DefenseThe Alamo / IroncladProtect train during waves
UtilityConductor / MinerCoal and resource management

Blood Mechanic

Getting covered in blood can attract more zombies. Wash off at water sources when possible, and avoid unnecessary melee engagements that splash blood.

Enemies & Boss

Enemies range from standard zombies to special variants and boss encounters. Nights are significantly more dangerous than daytime.

Common Enemies

EnemyBehaviorCounter
Standard ZombieSlow meleeHeadshots, kiting
RunnerFast chaseShotgun or sprint kiting
Armored ZombieHigh HPRepeater or explosives
Night CrawlerSpawns at nightKeep lights, stick together

Nikola Tesla Boss

Tesla appears as a major boss encounter (Tesla Lab update). Bring ammo, healing, and coordinated focus fire. Electric attacks punish scattered positioning — group up and assign dedicated healers.

Nightmare Mode

Available via Sterling Town update. Enemies are tougher, spawn rates increase, and resource pressure is higher. Recommended for experienced teams with upgraded classes and full ammo stocks.

Bonds & Progression

Bonds (Treasury Bonds) are the premium currency used to unlock Classes at the Tailor. Efficient Bond farming accelerates your progression.

How to Earn Bonds

  • Complete runs — longer distance and higher difficulty grant more Bonds.
  • Complete Challenges for bonus rewards.
  • Participate in limited-time events and gamemodes.
  • Daily play and win streaks during special events.

Spending Priority

Invest in low-cost high-value classes first (Doctor, Miner, Arsonist) before expensive 75–100 Bond classes. A wider roster beats one luxury class for most players.

Gamepasses

Dead Rails offers Roblox Gamepasses for convenience perks. These are optional and do not replace skill or class knowledge. Check the in-game store for current offerings.

Updates

Dead Rails follows a bi-weekly update cadence. Below are major milestones from the v1.0.0-alpha series.

Scripts

Dead Rails script searches are common, but using third-party scripts violates Roblox Terms of Service and puts your account at risk.

Why Scripts Are Risky

  • Roblox actively detects and bans exploit users.
  • Script hubs often contain malicious code that steals accounts.
  • Exploits ruin multiplayer games for legitimate players.
  • Auto-farm scripts bypass intended progression and reduce satisfaction.

Legitimate Alternatives

  • Learn the meta: Use this wiki's tier list and class guide instead of cheats.
  • Team up: A coordinated 4-player team beats any solo exploit.
  • Farm Bonds properly: Repeat runs with Doctor + Miner for steady progression.
  • Join Discord: Find experienced players willing to teach strategies.
